English International Dan Lawrence Signs with the Stars for the Remainder of KFC BBL|13

English international Dan Lawrence has signed with the Sydney Sixers for the remainder of KFC Big Bash League (BBL) season 13, the club announced on Friday.

The 25-year-old right-handed batsman will replace fellow Englishman Tom Haines, who has returned home due to a back injury.

Lawrence is a highly-rated player who has already represented England in all three formats of the game. He has scored two centuries in first-class cricket and averages over 40 in List A matches.

In T20 cricket, Lawrence has played for the Essex Eagles and the London Spirit in the English Blast competition. He has a strike rate of over 130 in T20s and has hit four half-centuries.

The Stars are currently in fourth position on the BBL table, having won four of their seven matches. They will be hoping that Lawrence can add some firepower to their batting line-up in the latter stages of the tournament.

Stars coach Trent Woodruff said: “We are delighted to welcome Dan to the Sixers. He is a quality player who has experience playing at the highest level. We are confident that he can make a significant contribution to our team.”

Lawrence said: “I am excited to be joining the Sydney Sixers. I have heard great things about the club and the BBL. I am looking forward to getting out there and playing some cricket.”

Lawrence is expected to arrive in Australia in the coming days and could make his Sixers debut in their next match against the Melbourne Stars on January 4.

The signing of Lawrence is a major boost for the Sixers, who will be hoping to challenge for the BBL|13 title.
